The behavioral help you need - when you need it most.
When you need immediate help, it's good to know our Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit is here for you. It's a warm, caring environment for adults 18+ who need stabilization, crisis support or round-the-clock care for emotional or psychiatric conditions (e.g., clinical depression, schizophrenia or serious conditions).
Our 20-bed Inpatient Unit is the answer for those who can no longer function at home or in their current healthcare environment.
Who qualifies?
Anyone who meets the criteria for inpatient treatment can be admitted. No physician referral is necessary. At Gateway Regional, you can be admitted in one of three ways:
- Emergency Room - for those experiencing a mental health crisis
- Intake Process - for those who call for an appointment
- Transfer/Direct Admit - for those referred by a physician or other healthcare facility
All three methods involve a thorough intake assessment by qualified physicians, including a licensed psychiatrist. As part of the assessment, we also check for any underlying medical issues or prescription drug interactions that could be affecting behavior.
Empowering you
Based on the results of your assessment, our team then works with you (and your family) to develop a personalized treatment plan to address your needs and goals. While you're here, you'll be cared for by a variety of behavioral health professionals, including a psychiatrist who may order medication to help improve your condition. You'll also be empowered to take an active role in your daily treatment.
Treatment plan options
Depending on your specific needs, your treatment plan may include:
- Cognitive behavior therapy
- Dialectical behavior therapy
- Couples therapy or family therapy
- Individual counseling
- Medication management
- Motivational enhancement
- Pain management
- Parenting skills
- Supportive listening and problem solving
When you're ready for discharge, our team will work closely with you and your family to arrange any follow-up care or counseling you might need.
